Lawrence Kahan, a Senior Partner at Mulvaney, Kahan & Barry founded the firm in 1969 along with James Mulvaney. Mr. Kahan was born in San Diego, California, on January 15, 1934, and attended San Diego State College receiving his undergraduate degree in 1955. After graduating, he served in the United States Navy as an officer from 1955 through 1958, before leaving to attend the University of Virginia Law School. Mr. Kahan received his law degree from UVA in 1961, was admitted to the California bar in 1962, and the U.S. Supreme Court in 1974. Mr. Kahan has also served as a Federal Defender, and a professor of Business Law at the University of California, San Diego. Between 1979 and 1997, and 2006 through the present, Mr. Kahan served as a California Probate Referee.
